The first Timber Tour and Super Youth competition is scheduled for January 18 – 21. Registration will go live on November 1 at 7 p.m.
About Freestyle Ski Competitions
These events are a fantastic way for athletes to test their skills after 6 weeks of training. It is also a great way to meet other freestyle athletes and parents from around the province. We have seen lifelong friendships between athletes and parents form from the fun nature of these long weekends.
The Timber Tour is an event for athletes aged 12 to 17. The Super Youth events are for ages 8 – 13. Athletes in the U14 category are allowed to compete in either event. These events always have a Slopestyle and mogul competition. The additional event on Sunday is either Big Air or Dual Moguls. The host club decides what that additional event is.
Typically, all families travel to the Resort on Wednesday, with Thursday spent training on all courses for the upcoming 3 days of competition. Friday to Sunday are the competition days with one discipline per day. Athletes can get additional training opportunities either before or after their event on the day. This is due to the female and male athletes competing at different times. We always have a coach available to take athletes to the other venues while they are not competing. We strive to send coaches on a 6:1 ratio to ensure athletes have lots of resources to do their very best! Families then leave either on Sunday afternoon or Monday, depending on the length of the trip home. Families are in charge of their accommodation and travel to the event. Usually, discounted accommodation options come from the host club in the official event invite. This invite is scheduled to come out on November 1.
