Freestyle Whistler Program
The club offers both competitive and recreational freestyle skiing opportunities.
The full winter program provides approximately 44 training days throughout the ski season.
- December 2nd, 2017 to April 1st, 2018.
- 3 BC Timber Tour events this year in Panorama, Whistler, and Mt. Washington.
- Meet at 8:50 am inside Glacier Creek Lodge on Blackcomb and ski from 9am – 3pm with a break for lunch from 11:15 – noon.
Skiers are divided into different groups based on ability, age and focus of desired freestyle discipline. If your child is aged 12 or under and just starting out in Freestyle and skiing at the Super Youth competition level, please contact Whistler Blackcomb to participate in their Freestyle Development Program, which will be more suitable. Freestyle Whistler does not offer coaching at Super Youth events.
- The full winter program Early Bird cost is $1800 if registration is done before October 31st and $2050 after that date.
*All athletes require a CFSA membership on top of club registration. Athletes competing in the Timber Tour events will require a Can 3 license – click here to get your license.
Athletes will continue to develop and improve on the skills they have learned at the Freestyle Development level, developing more advanced techniques in the moguls, expanding their repertoire of tricks and building their speed with confidence. Coaches will work on all the fundamental skills as well as help advance the skiers’ competition readiness. Athletes can compete at the Timber Tour Competition level, which includes 3 BC events this year in Panorama, Whistler, and Mt. Washington. Selected qualified skiers will have the opportunity to compete at Junior Nationals in Apex later in the season. Athletes from WBFSC have a longstanding history of success in the Mogul discipline. The club has seen several athletes go on to compete at international level, including Olympic gold and silver medalist Dale Begg-Smith. Our club skiers have brought back medals from BC Championships and Junior Nationals.
Slope Style and Half Pipe
Whistler Blackcomb offers some of the best terrain park facilities in the world, from beginner to advanced features. Skiers will continue to develop the skills they have learned at the Freestyle Development level, expanding their repertoire of tricks and building their confidence on both rails and jumps. Half pipe training is available dependent upon readiness of the half pipe. Our coaches have a high level of acrobatic literacy with a strong emphasis on safely progression. Coaches will work on all of the fundamental skills as well as help advance skiers’ competition readiness. Athletes can compete at the Timber Tour Competition level, which includes 3 BC events this year in Panorama, Whistler and Mt. Washington. Selected qualified skiers will have the opportunity to compete at Junior Nationals at Mount Saint Louis Moonstone, Ontario in mid-March. Club skiers have consistently been on the podium the past few years at Timber Tour, BC Championships and Junior Nationals level.
